Planning a wedding, maternity session or family photography session comes with plenty of questions. From choosing the right wedding photography coverage to knowing what to wear for your family session, I'm here to make the process simple and enjoyable.
Feather & Lace Photography is a Cambridge-based photographer specialising in weddings, maternity and family photography throughout Cambridge, Waikato, Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY FAQs
How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
Most couples book their wedding photographer 12–18 months in advance, particularly for popular spring and summer dates.
That said, there's no harm in getting in touch if your wedding is sooner. Dates sometimes become available, and I'd always rather you ask than assume I'm unavailable.
How many hours of wedding photography do we need?
Every wedding is different, which is why I offer several wedding photography collections.
My coverage ranges from intimate 2-hour elopements through to 9-hour wedding days with two photographers.
If you're unsure which collection is right for your wedding, I'm happy to look at your plans and help you work out how much coverage you'll actually need.
What is included in your wedding photography collections?
All wedding collections include professionally hand-edited images and an online gallery.
Depending on the collection, you can also receive planning assistance, extended coverage, a complimentary engagement session and a second photographer.

Do you photograph weddings outside Cambridge?
Absolutely.
I'm based in Cambridge and photograph weddings throughout Waikato and the Bay of Plenty, including Hamilton, Matamata, Morrinsville, Te Awamutu, Tauranga and surrounding areas.
I also love travelling for weddings throughout New Zealand.

Absolutely, and you're definitely not alone!
Most couples tell me they're nervous about having their photographs taken.
You don't need to arrive knowing what to do with your hands or how to pose. I'll guide you through the process with simple prompts and natural direction, helping you relax and enjoy being together.
Some of my favourite photographs are created in the moments between the poses, the laughter, little glances and genuine connection.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely.
You don't need to know how to pose before your wedding day — that's my job.
I'll give you gentle direction when needed while also allowing plenty of space for genuine moments to unfold naturally.
My aim is for your photographs to feel like you, rather than a series of stiff poses.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
Rain doesn't mean your photographs won't be beautiful. In fact, some of my favourite wedding photographs have been created in unexpected weather.
I'll work with whatever your wedding day gives us, whether that's sunshine, clouds or rain, and help you make the most of it. Your wedding will go ahead, and I'll be there to document it all as it unfolds.
MATERNITY & FAMILY FAQs
When is the best time to have maternity photographs taken?
I generally recommend scheduling your maternity photography session between 30 and 36 weeks, when your bump is beautifully defined while you're hopefully still feeling comfortable enough to enjoy your session.
Every pregnancy is different, though, so if you have a particular timeframe in mind, just get in touch.
Where do you photograph maternity and family sessions?
All Feather & Lace maternity and family sessions take place outdoors, using beautiful natural light and locations throughout Cambridge, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.
We'll choose a location that suits your family, the season and the type of photographs you're dreaming of creating.
Can my partner and children be included in my maternity session?
Absolutely.
Your maternity session isn't just about your bump, it's about your growing family.
Partners and children are very welcome and I love capturing those little moments of connection between everyone, however the focus will be on the maternity. If you want the focus on the family, please book family.
What should we wear for our maternity or family session?
Once your session is booked, I'll provide guidance to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully together.
Think coordinating rather than matching, with textures, neutral tones and colours that complement your chosen location.
For maternity sessions, I do have a client wardrobe you can choose outfits from.
And if you're stuck, I'm always happy to help!
What happens if it rains during our family or maternity session?
Because your session is outdoors, we keep an eye on the forecast in the lead-up to your date.
If the weather isn't suitable, we'll simply reschedule your session for another suitable day.
There's no need to worry about losing your session because of the weather.
What if my children don't behave during our session?
They don't have to!
Children are children. They might run, laugh, get distracted, refuse to smile or decide they would rather explore than look at the camera.
That's okay.
Rather than forcing everyone into perfect poses, I'll work with your children and let their personalities come through. Some of the photographs you'll treasure most may be the ones where nobody is looking at the camera.
Do you photograph extended families?
Yes.
Extended family sessions are perfect for bringing multiple generations together and can include grandparents, children, grandchildren and individual family groupings.
My Extended Family Collection is designed specifically for larger groups.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE
How many photographs will we receive?
Your final gallery will contain a carefully curated collection of professionally hand-edited images that tell your story.
Maternity and family sessions typically result in a beautiful collection of professionally edited images, with the final number depending on your session and the moments I capture
Wedding galleries vary depending on the length and nature of your wedding day.
Can we print our photographs?
Absolutely.
Your high-resolution images come with personal printing rights, allowing you to print your photographs for your home and family.
I also offer professional-quality prints and artwork for clients who would like their photographs turned into something tangible.
Are all of our photographs professionally edited?
Yes.
Every photograph you receive is individually edited in my signature Feather & Lace style.
I don't simply apply a filter and send your images off. Your gallery is carefully curated and edited to ensure consistency throughout your photographs.
BOOKING
How do we book Feather & Lace Photography?
Simply send me an enquiry through my contact page and tell me a little about what you're planning.
For weddings, I'll check your date and send through the relevant information about my wedding collections.
Once you've decided you'd like to work together, I'll guide you through the booking process.
How do we secure our wedding date?
Your wedding date is secured once your booking requirements have been completed, including your signed agreement and booking fee.
I'll explain everything clearly when you decide to book.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes.
I understand that photography is an investment, particularly when planning a wedding, so payment plans can be arranged to help spread the cost.
